As a global superbrand of hair products, ghd has created different and beautiful hairstyles with hair straightening irons leading to wonderful results. For the third year running, the hair straighteners uk brand ghd straighteners is joining forces with fashion title, Harper’s Bazaar to bring to light this year’s rising stars of hair styling. With the addition of Grazia magazine, the 2010 Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia and ghd Session Stylist Awards encourage young stylists to showcase their ability and creative flair for a chance to join the big guns of the hair industry with styling experiences to like no other.
This year, the competition calls for stylists to embrace the idea of famous beauty icons. The mission? To recreate the distinctive hair looks of three beauty icons chosen from the A/W 10-11 fashion season, and produce images with the quality to fit in a Harper’s Bazaar story.
While the emphasis will be on amazing hair, the entire image will be taken into consideration during the judging process, including lighting, make-up, the model and clothing.
Just as fashion designers turn to a certain muse to inspire their collection, stylists will be asked to look at the iconic women that have changed the path of fashion and beauty to gather inspiration for their original hair looks.
Three finalists will then be selected to participate in an Emerging Fashion Talent runway show in February 2011, where they will get to work Australia’s next generation of design talent, and work with the ghd hair styling teams backstage at RAFW 2011.
The overall winner will be mentored by session styling star and ghd Guest Artist, Renya Xydis, to style a beauty story for the June/July 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar (on sale May 2, 2011), plus a fashion story for Grazia. They will also work backstage at a ghd straighteners sponsored show from an International Fashion Week, all expenses paid.
With enormous support for young rising talent, ghd enjoy a continued relationship with last year’s winner, Yoshi Su, who was recently flown to London to style backstage at sass & bide at London Fashion Week.
“So many new doors have opened up for me since winning the Harper’s Bazaar and ghd Session Stylist Award. It was such an honour to be given the opportunity to style backstage at London Fashion Week, and I am so grateful for the ongoing support ghd hair straighteners provides for young stylists in Australia and New Zealand," Yoshi said.
