Indeed, when we attended the recent Australian Film Industry Awards we witnessed plenty of stars opting for understated, effortless looks. One popular style was long, waved tousled hair; glamorous yet with a bohemian edge and still appropriate for 2011's hair trends. Today our ghd blog will share that Lee Matthews for ghd created the style with ghd Salon Styler on actress Phoebe Tonkin for the 2011 AFI Awards ceremony.

Lee, who worked exclusively with ghd products on the evening, gave us the following how-to instructions on how to get waved tousled hair with salon ghd:

1. Apply ghd Thermal Protector and ghd Maximise Mousse to towel dried hair, and blow dry in using your fingers to tousle the hair as you go to enhance natural movement.
2. Apply ghd Creation Spray throughout the hair for longevity and hold of your style.
3. Using your ghd iv Salon Styler create loose curls by placing your ghd IV Styler in at the roots, rotating 180 degrees and gliding slowly through to the ends. The GHD IV Salon Styler has wider plates (40mm) than the GHD IV Styler (25mm) or the GHD IV Mini Styler (13mm). This enables it to style larger sections of hair quickly and effortlessly.Ceramic-coated aluminum plates help seal the cuticle and create shine while locking in hair's natural moisture, preventing atmospheric moisture from re-penetrating hair.
4. As you reach the top only rotate your styler 45 degrees before glinding through to create a soft bend around the face.
5. Using your fingers rake through the hair to break up the curl before spraying with ghd Sea Spray to add a raw 'lived in' texture.

How was the birth of a new hairstyle from ghd

Paul Hanlon route looks more like a jet-setter, a hair salon. If he does not seek to establish in his room in London, Paul go-to French Vogue, W Magazine and iD, where she worked with fashion photographers like Craig McDean, David Sims, Mert & Marcus. What is the idea behind my hair for the show this season?

PH: I wanted it to not much more graphic, architecture. Matthew and I wanted this girl, a little harder and a little more difficult because I'm always a little sweet girl Mateo said. He still uses a reference to a woman who travels - you know, a young man living on Ibiza, which is sexy.
He wanted it to be very different this season and look a little more mature with the girls. My references are from the nineties, the low side, super bright, super high gloss graphics, finished hair smooth, flat, based on the hair for extra finish you need.

We used ghd thermal protector with the ghd salon styler to get a great straight finish on the body of the hair and ghd smoothing balm to blow dry. For the shine and hold, we used ghd ultimate hair spray. What I like about this product in particular is it's quite wet and it achieves a really high gloss look, allows me not to have to use any crooks or bangs in the hair, because it's so strong it holds it in.
And then a little bit of the great ghd shining serum and ghd reflection spray to take any unwanted flyaways at the finish.
Where have you scoured the hair pieces from this year?

PH: I have a company in London called "Hair Raisers" that I have used for over 10 years, they give an impeccable finish. Now there is such a high demand for this type of thing, I tend to order well ahead of time because of greater demand supply will falter, especially around fashion week!
What other shows are you doing in New York?

PH: I just did the Crème show as well which was great
Are you doing any shows this year at London Fashion Week?

PH: Yes I will be working on four shows in London including Peter Jenson, Armand Bassy, Louise Golding and Richard Nichol. In Milan I am doing Burberry and Moschino: Cheap and Chic and in Paris I am styling the hair at the Hayder Achier Costume Nationale show
