Lady GAGA transfigured into terrifying scarecrow

So funny and Creative-A British farmer has come up with a bizarre new way to save Britain's crops - a terrifying Lady GaGa scarecrow. Let's share this news at our cheap ghd blog.

The 7ft tall Lady GaGa scarecrow, complete with shocking white wig and dress, is keeping birds off Nigel Britten's wheat crops.

The outrageous 23 year old singer is the inspiration behind a new range of bird scarers.Nigel Britten was despairing at the way pigeons were eating his wheat crops until he and his fiancee watched her on the Brit Awards last week.

Now the new, 7ft tall Lady GaGa scarecrow, complete with shocking white wig and big hair which can be created with ghd iv salon stylers, is keeping birds off his wheat crops which are used to grow Hovis bread.

Mr Britten, 27, said: "We were laughing at Lady GaGa's outfit and that extraordinary wig and talking about how scary she looked.

"My fiancee Marti joked that I should make a scarecrow which looked like her.

"I laughed and then it occurred to me it was actually a very good idea.

"We've been worried about the increasing audacity of birds on our farms for some time. I was tearing my hair out because the pigeons were taking all the corn after planting.

"We'd used traditional scarecrows but the old ways just don't seem to work any more, so we have had to become more and more inventive.

"But our new Lady GaGa scarecrow works a treat.

"We put her up last week and she's had a remarkable effect. The birds must be terrified of her because they have stayed away.

"I know it's not a traditional scarecrow, but I suppose we have to move with the times.

"I don't know whether it's the dress or the hair but the birds daren't approach the field anymore."

The scarecrow is made from a metal frame with a wooden base. The hair is made from cotton wool.

Mr Britten, who works at Whelan Farm, near Warlingham, Surrey, said the design had been so effective he thought a range should be rolled out to other farmers.

Whelan Farm is one of over 600 farms growing premium wheat exclusively for Hovis as part of its move to using 100 per cent British wheat. The farm has 1100 acres of arable land.

Mr Britten, who is the assistant manager at the farm and employed by Sentry Farms, added: "I come from a family of farmers and I have never seen a scarecrow like this before but it could be the way forward.

"I quite like Lady GaGa's music and find her look interesting - she seems to pull it off.

"But she does look very odd and this may be the way forward as far as scarecrows go.

"We may make some more. In future we could move onto other scary people - perhaps a Gordon Brown scarecrow would work well too."

Marie Davies, marketing manager at Hovis, said the company was considering rolling out the design to its other wheat farms.

She said: "We're very excited by our move to 100 per cent British wheat and are passionate about protecting our crops which have taken over five years to perfect.

"The Lady GaGa scarecrow is unusual but it's been a great success for Nigel and it's definitely something we're now considering rolling out to all our British wheat farms."

Hovis has switching over to flour milled from 100 per cent British wheat for its entire product range baked in Britain. It is the first major bread brand to make this change.

Lady GaGa, real name Stefani Germanotta, won three awards at the Brits.

The American singer won International Breakthrough Act, Best International Female Artist and Best International Album.
